- Do I need a copywriter?
These days most of your communication with your target audience is happening through digital mediums. That means that almost all of that communication will be written.
You need a writer that not only knows the technical side of writing for digital platforms, but also understands how to research and build messaging that cuts through thousands of messages your target audience receives a day.
Sure, you could use AI generated content to help build your online presence. But the output you get from an AI generator, like ChatGPT, is largely dependent on the input you give it.
You only need to go on LinkedIn to see how generic the messaging can become.
That's why you need a copywriter to help your business stand out with messaging that inspires action through evoking emotions.
2. Where are you based?
I'm based in Cape Town, South Africa. This central time zone has allowed me to work with clients across the globe.
One of the perks of being a freelancer is that my time is flexible, and I have the capacity to make myself available to you as the project demands...within reason.
3. What are your rates?
My rates are billed on a project basis. There are quite a few variables that have an impact on the final fee.
It's always recommended that we do a 30-60 min consultation call to discuss the project in order to get an accurate quote.
However, if you want an idea of whether my services match your budget, then you can view my rates card here.
4. What do your rates include?
My rates include an initial consultation call, research, SEO writing, revisions, and copyright ownership.
All website projects also include a free site audit to identify any potential SEO issues.
For best results, I would strongly suggest an optimization session as well. This is an optional extra where we review the performance and make adjustments to optimize results.
Other optional extras include keyword research, email platform setup, and PPC ad campaign setup.
5. Do you require a deposit?
I require a 50% deposit and signed Writer's Agreement before starting the project. The final 50% is payable within 14 days of receiving the first draft.
The Writer's Agreement includes information about the project scope and deliverable and is a binding agreement. This protects both parties and makes sure that you get exactly what you wanted.
6. How many revisions do you offer?
In most cases our agreement will include 2 revisions. This may not be possible for projects that require an express turnaround.
If it's a complex project with lots of stakeholders then more revisions may be required. These extra revisions will be quoted for.
Just remember, it can difficult to get everyone on the same page if you have a big team, and the most effective campaigns often have one clear point of contact.
7. What is the turnaround time for a project?
How long is a piece of string?
Big web projects can take between 2-4 weeks, PPC ads and email campaigns can be completed in 1 week, and blog pieces can be completed in 1-2 weeks.
I must point out that the timelines mentioned above are just a guideline, and the amount of research required and deliverables will affect the project timeline.
Express turnaround times can be accommodated, but it will have an impact on the final fee.
8. Who owns the copyright?
After the project has been paid in full, all rights belong to you.
This means you can do anything you want with it, without my permission.
9. Do you write about any other topics?
Healthcare copywriting is my specialty, but I also write about other selective topics.
Topics like startup culture, entrepreneurship, sales, marketing, and economics.
10. Do you offer any other services besides writing?
Absolutely! If you do not have a system, I can set up email campaign platforms and PPC Ad campaigns on your behalf.
I'm also happy to manage any marketing projects like building and managing teams to execute website builds, ad campaigns, and rebrands.
I can also consult as your fractional Revenue Officer and offer audits of your sales and marketing processes.
11. Do you offer any special rates/discounts?
I offer discounted rates for retainer clients. Package rates can be discussed if you are looking for a combination of services for a once-off project.
12. How far in advance should I book your services?
Yesterday!
All jokes aside, if you are thinking of hiring a writer it's best you do so as early as possible.
Not only will this ensure my availability, but it also gives us ample time to plan and ensure the project delivers results while staying within your budget.
13. How do we set up a project brief?
After you have booked a slot for a consultation call you will receive an email with all the questions we'll cover on the call. These questions will help us build a brief together and highlight any areas that still need to be considered.
If you already have a brief complete with goals, keyword research, customer avatar, ideal customer profile, and the lot then send it over before our consultation call. This will allow me to spend more time on the granular details of the project.
14. What is your preferred method of contact?
Communication is vital to the outcome of every project, but channels are largely influenced by our respective schedules.
I prefer the depth of phone and video calls, but I am happy to provide project updates via email if that's what your prefer.
15. What if I’m not happy with the end result?
In the unlikely event that we experience a plane crash, all rights will be yours and you will be able to change the copy as you please.
This is why building a detailed brief with clear goals, deliverables, and open channels of communication are vital. Together we can ensure that you are happy with the results.
